You Won't Find Social Media Packages Here

People sometimes ask if Stratos handles social media. It's a fair question. Websites and social media often get lumped together. But the short answer is no, I don't offer social media management as a service.

It’s not because I think social media is useless. It clearly has its place. It’s just not what I do. Here’s the thinking behind that.

Building vs. Broadcasting

What I enjoy, and what Stratos is built for, is crafting solid digital foundations. Designing a website, writing the copy that explains what a business does, making sure it runs smoothly, and helping people find it via search – that feels like building something durable. It’s structured, requires deep focus, and the results tend to compound over time.

Social media feels different. It’s faster, more ephemeral, and demands a constant stream of content and engagement. It’s less like building a house and more like hosting a non-stop party. Both can be valuable, but they require very different skills and temperaments.

You Need Passion (And I Don't Have It for This)

Honestly? Running social media accounts isn't something I'm passionate about. I respect the people who are good at it – it takes a specific kind of creativity, consistency, and understanding of platform nuances. But my energy and curiosity are pulled towards code, design systems, clear writing, and figuring out how to make a website genuinely useful for a business.

Offering a service I'm not genuinely excited about feels wrong. You wouldn't hire a plumber who secretly hates fixing pipes. You deserve someone running your social media who actually enjoys that world and is eager to dive into it every day. That’s not me.

Doing One Thing Well

Stratos is a one-person operation. That means focus is everything. I can either build great websites and provide solid support for them, or I can try to do that plus social media, plus email marketing, plus PPC ads... and spread myself too thin.

I'd rather be really good at the core offering – designing, building, writing for, and maintaining websites – than be mediocre at a bunch of things. Adding social media would dilute that focus. It’s a whole other discipline, and trying to tack it on would be a disservice to both the web work and the social media work.

It's About the Right Fit

My goal is to be a trusted partner for the things I do offer. If I took on social media, I’d either be outsourcing it (adding a layer of complexity and cost) or doing a half-hearted job myself. Neither feels right.

It’s better for everyone if Stratos sticks to what it does best. If you need social media help, I wholeheartedly recommend finding a specialist or an agency that lives and breathes it. They’ll serve you better in that area.

My job is to make sure that when people do find you – whether through social media, search, or word-of-mouth – they land on a website that is clear, effective, and helps your business grow. That's the problem I'm focused on solving.
